ABOUT US
| HOW NEW YORK CAME TO FALLBROOK
Ronald August Nusser was born in Long Island, New York.
Like all great restaurateurs, Ron's experience started at the very
Top! His first restaurant "position", was that of dishwasher for
the hopping Nightclub/Restaurant THE SHELL HOUSE, in Long Island,
New York. This was a fun job (other then washing all those dishes),
as THE SHELL HOUSE, catered to new and up coming MOTOWN acts. Ron
got to see, meet and mingle with the likes of The Supremes, The
Temptations, The Four Tops and many others.
Ron graduated to a Waiter position at the infamous GENOVESE
restaurant. GENOVESE was a favorite hangout for New Jersey Mobsters.
It was a high class establishment (well, maybe except for some of
their clientele), where Ron's uniform was a Tuxedo, and many of the
dishes, such as, Steak Diane, Banana Fosters, Cherries Jubilee and
others... were prepared tableside alla Flambe. Meaning, that they
were set on fire, at your table, prior to landing on your plate!
A practice that probably, would not go over well with our Fallbrook
Fire Department today. Ahhh, to the good old days...
As many New Yorkers do, Ron decided, he'd had enough of freezing
winters, and slushy springs. A dedicated surfer who's traveled
extensively, looking for the best waves, Ron decided that
Huntington Beach, CA. was his kind of town!
In California, Ron continued learning the restaurant business,
all the while~ saving money, hoping to one day own a restaurant.
Opportunity presented itself to him from a retiring couple who owned
a very small Pizzeria in Long Beach, Calif. They also served one
of the best Pizza Pies, Ron had been able to find on the West Coast.
A common complaint of New Yorkers about California is
(HEY! Wherssza Good Pizza Pie Joint)?
Ron purchased this little pizzeria, changed the name to Brother's
West (Instead of Brother's East, one of his favorite pizzerias in
New York). He then perfected the Pizza Pies to his satisfaction.
Upon customer demand, he expanded to dinner meals. Ron, used the
recipes from his Mother, Adele Ciopollino and his Aunt, Maria
Ciopollino, whose family had been collecting recipes for decades..
Soon, the little pizzeria became a busy and happy place.
Ron & Dee (A True Love Story) fell in love the summer of '89.
After their marriage in 1991, they decided it was time for a bigger
and better restaurant. Maybe even 2! So they opened two new
restaurants. Brother's Lakeside, and then Brother's Bistro, both
in Orange County, Ca. Although Dee has been a mortgage banker
her entire life, her favorite hobby was cooking and creating
recipes. Most of the recipes we use now are Dee's creations.
One day, Ron and Dee looked Southward... and found, the beautiful area of
Fallbrook. After making Fallbrook their home, they, decided,
Fallbrook was ready for a new restaurant. Hence the birth of
Brother's Bistro in 2004!!!
NOTE: We hope that you enjoy our family operated Bistro restaurant and our CATERING Services. Our goals are to continue providing and supplying our neighbors with a wonderful friendly atmosphere of Cheer, Terrific Food and Service!
Sincerely,
Ron & Dee Nusser
